Complete Example: I'm trying to breed a Trick Room Snorlax. I select 31 HP, 31 Atk, 30 Def, 31 SpD, and 0 Spe as requirements. I see Frame #10322, which yields a baby with 31/A/30/7/B/0. Although there are spreads that will give me the same result but take less time, I only have to have one parent with a flawless IV in Attack, and one parent with a flawless IV in Special Defense, and this is really easy to achieve. I traded a male Snorlax I caught in Fire Red over to my Emerald, and caught a lot of Dittos until I had a Brave Ditto with a flawless IV in Attack and a Brave Ditto with a flawless IV in Special Defense. I breed my Snorlax and Brave Ditto with flawless Atk until I get a baby Snorlax with a flawless IV in Atk (either male, or female with a Brave nature). I put my Baby Snorlax (holding an everstone if it's female) into the daycare first and my Brave Ditto with flawless SpDef (holding an everstone if Snorlax is male) into the daycare second. The man has an egg, I save the game and hatch it, it's Brave and has the ability I want, Thick Fat. I reset the game and start my stopwatch at the same time, talk to the daycare man until the line, " Take Good Care of it!" is on the screen. My stopwatch shows 2:52:317, but I get the IV spread that I should get if I stopped it at 2:51:800. I need to adjust, so I reset my game at the same time I start my stopwatch, go through the same process, but stop it when the stopwatch shows 2:52:523. I hatch my Snorlax and take him to the IV man. He tells me my Snorlax's attack is "Flawless, it's a thing of perfection!", then he says the same thing about me HP, and my Special Defense! I check my Snorlax's IV's and wouldn't you know, I just bred a Brave, Thick Fat Snorlax with IV's of 31/31/30/x/31/0. Now he's ready to compete in the Video Game Championships!
