Introduction to the Pokemon Video Game Championships

So, some of you might be wondering what the big deal is. "So what? It's just another tournament." Well, not exactly. This is Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, International's official yearly pokemon tournament. They offer some seriously good prizes, not to mention free trips to exotic locations if you qualfy high enough. For example, in 2009, there were six qualifier stops; Seattle, WA; Fremont, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Dallas, TX; Nashville, TN; Philadelphia, PA, and a last chance lottery at the Nationals in St. Louis. Those who got in the top 4 at one of those stops or got lucky at the St. Louis last chance got to play for the national championship. If you won a qualifier or came in second, you got your trip(flights + hotel) paid for by TPCi for you and a guest. Then, if you got in the top 16 at St. Louis(the nationals for 2009), you got an invitation to San Diego, CA, for the World Championships. That is incredible! If you win in St. Louis or any of the qualifier stops, you get a trophy and worldwide fame, not to mention the incredible fellow pokemon fans you meet along the way. It is truly a great experience for those who wish they can meet the people behind the screennames or the friend code.
