The Pokemon Video Game Championships is Nintendo and The Pokemon Company International's official pokemon video game tournament! It happens once every year, organized to run in the same approximate timeframe as the TCG. Many of our members have been successful in these competitions and have won incredible prizes. If you are interested in playing the pokemon video games with rules that actually matter and incredible prizes, check out our extensive VGC section for more information!

We often have tournaments throughout the year, in preparation for VGC and just for fun! Tournaments are organized on the sub-forum Tournaments board on our message board. We also have weekly Wifi tournaments run by Matthew Carter(also known as mattj) that focus more on preparing for the VGC. Check it out!

The Pokemon Video Game Championships 2012 Season rules have been released! Via an update to the official sanction ruleset, we were able to see the full ruleset for 2012. In a nutshell, it is the same ruleset as last year but with all non-legendary pokemon allowed.
There is another large change to the VGC operation this year. Instead of qualifier stops, with the usual methodology of being in May, one each weekend and six stops total, TPCI is doing a totally different system starting this year; they are having VGC operate similar to the TCG; Play! Pokemon Points, different regionals all held on the same day, etc.
